Youthmakers Hub at the SoilTribes Kick-Off Meeting

On January 21-22, 2025, Youthmakers Hub had the privilege of participating in the kick-off meeting of the SoilTribes project, hosted by Politecnico di Milano and coordinated by INOVA+. Representing Youthmakers Hub, Georgia-Anna Chondrou and Eleni Modou joined an inspiring consortium of 25 partners from across Europe to launch a groundbreaking initiative to redefine our relationship with soil.

SoilTribes is a movement that seeks to bridge science, technology, arts, and community-driven action to foster a systemic and glocal approach to soil restoration. Healthy soils are essential for food security, climate resilience, and biodiversity, yet they face increasing threats from climate change, urbanization, and intensive agriculture. SoilTribes is committed to addressing these challenges by translating complex soil-related issues into accessible narratives that inspire action and policy change.

At Youthmakers Hub, we are honored to lead the dissemination, communication, and exploitation efforts for SoilTribes. Our role is to ensure that the project’s impact is amplified, its message reaches diverse audiences, and its legacy continues beyond its lifespan. Through storytelling, strategic outreach, and digital engagement, we will help shape a robust, shared understanding of soil’s critical role in sustaining life.

During the kick-off meeting, we engaged in dynamic discussions on interdisciplinary collaboration, community-driven initiatives, and the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with cultural narratives to drive long-term behavioral change. The consortium collectively envisioned soil as a resource, a symbol of resilience, renewal, and hope, one that connects people across borders, disciplines, and generations.

SoilTribes is set to implement educational programs, artistic interventions, festivals, and policy dialogues. As Youthmakers Hub embarks on this exciting journey, we are committed to making the project’s outcomes visible, impactful, and sustainable, ensuring that SoilTribes creates a lasting legacy in soil conservation and environmental stewardship.
