Youthmakers Hub at the European Parliament | April 2024

Last week, from 10 to 12 April, Pinelopi Katsigianni and Eleni Modou from the Youthmakers Hub team had the opportunity to visit the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. This visit was made possible through an exclusive invitation from Mr. Petros Kokkalis, Member of the European Parliament (MEP).

During the visit, we participated in enlightening discussions and meetings with key stakeholders, focusing on the pressing environmental issues facing Europe and the world. We had the privilege to engage directly with the European Environmental Bureau, one of Europe’s largest networks of environmental citizens’ organizations. This engagement allowed for exchanging ideas, strategies, and best practices for effectively tackling ecological problems and influencing policy for positive change.

Key topics discussed during the visit included the EU Green Deal, climate change mitigation, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture, and the transition to a circular economy. Youthmakers Hub highlighted the importance of youth involvement in environmental advocacy, emphasizing that young people’s energy, creativity, and innovative thinking are crucial components in driving sustainable development and achieving environmental goals.

Youthmakers Hub extends its gratitude to Mr. Petros Kokkalis and the European Parliament for this invaluable opportunity.
