Strengthening AU-EU Partnerships: Youthmakers Hub Hosts Kenyatta University and University of Jos

On Friday, 27th of September, Youthmakers Hub had the honor of hosting representatives from Kenyatta University and the University of Jos at our offices. These visits symbolize the deep-rooted connections and shared visions between Youthmakers Hub and both universities. Kenyatta University, our partner since 2018, and the University of Jos, with whom we have been collaborating since 2019, are dedicated to empowering their students to become catalysts for positive change, mirroring our mission to inspire and equip young people to make meaningful impacts in their communities and the world at large.

Among the esteemed visitors from Kenyatta University were Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, the Vice-Chancellor, alongside Dr. Esther Munyiri, the Director of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre – Eastern Africa (GTRCMC – EA), and Mr. Kennedy Monari, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Chandaria Innovation and Incubation Centre. Their presence brought invaluable insights and perspectives, enriching our discussions with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

From the University of Jos, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tanko Ishaya,  the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahila P. Gowon, Conservation Biologist & International Development Specialist Dr. Salamatu J. Pada, Mr. Joshua Angyu, a specialist in ICT, and Naomi Embaga from the Advancement Office. Each brought their unique expertise and vision, contributing to a comprehensive dialogue on our shared objectives and future initiatives.

During these visits, we discussed our shared experiences and the projects of Youthmakers Hub. We focused on the 3is: Impactful, Inclusive, Integrated Higher Education in Eastern Africa project and also highlighted the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective initiative, on which we examined the opportunities for both universities and their students.

Our collaborations with Kenyatta University and the University of Jos are built on mutual respect, a passion for innovation, and a collective belief in the transformative power of education. We aim to create a nurturing environment encouraging young minds to explore, innovate, and lead with purpose and compassion.

The fruitful discussions ended with our commitment to deepening this collaboration, creating more opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges, and developing programs that empower the youth to harness their potential fully.

This gathering reminded us of our commitment to empowering the youth, fostering innovation, and building a sustainable future together, a testament to the value and significance of our partnerships.
