Empowering Youth for a Transformative Future: Youthmakers Hub at the 3rd APRM Youth Symposium in Uganda | July 2022

Marilena Maragkou, Co-founder & Program Coordinator of Youthmakers Hub and Education Expert of the AU-EU Youth Cooperation, had the honor of being a speaker at the 3rd APRM Youth Symposium. This event, held from 4th to 9th July 2022 at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda, was organized by the Government of Uganda in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat, AUC Youth Division, International Organization for Migration, and Youth for Tax Justice Network. The Symposium’s theme was AU@20: Repositioning the Youth Agenda for a Transformative Continent.

Marilena presented the WE AfriHug project as an innovative education initiative during the AUC/UNICEF Session: Transforming Education in Africa Youth Consultation /Pitch-to-Youth. The Symposium was inaugurated by H.E the President of Uganda, Yoweri K. Museveni, on 4th July 2022.

In order to achieve the Symposium’s objectives, the Government of Uganda, in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat, AUC Youth Division, International Organization for Migration, Youth for Tax Justice Network, and Development Partners, including the European Union, curated key presentations and discussions on selected themes pertinent to youth empowerment. The symposium was a significant gathering, attracting 800 participants from Africa, Europe, and the Global South, representing both public and private organizations and institutions.
