Youthmakers Hub Attends Youth Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism in Athens
On 15 May 2026, Youthmakers Hub attended the Youth Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism in Athens, Greece, with European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
The event was hosted by the Hellenic National Youth Council, in the context of the upcoming EU Tourism Strategy, and brought together 20 young people from across Europe to share their views, experiences, and proposals for the future of tourism. More than 100 representatives from youth organizations followed the discussion, creating a space for exchange between young people, youth organizations, and EU decision-makers.
For Youthmakers Hub, the most important part of the event was not only the topic of tourism, but the format itself: an open dialogue where young people could speak directly with the people involved in shaping European policies.
Youth Policy Dialogues are one of the European Commission’s key mechanisms for youth participation. Their main purpose is to give young people the opportunity to express their views on EU policy initiatives by interacting directly with Commissioners and to help bring youth perspectives into the EU’s political agenda.
At Youthmakers Hub, youth engagement is at the core of our work. Through our projects, capacity-building activities, communication campaigns, and Europe-Africa partnerships, we work to create spaces where young people can be seen, heard, and actively involved in conversations that influence their communities and futures.
That is why being invited to this event was meaningful for our team. It was an opportunity to witness, support, and participate in a process that places young people closer to decision-making.
We thank the Hellenic National Youth Council, the Commissioner’s Cabinet, and DG MOVE for supporting this important dialogue and for creating space for young people and youth organizations to contribute to the conversation.
