On October 23, 2025, the SoilTribes project — represented by Youthmakers Hub — was awarded a Certificate of Recognition under the Education for Climate Award 2025, within the Inspiring Green Education Actions call. The recognition was announced during Education for Climate Day 2025, a flagship hybrid event hosted by the European Commission in Brussels, bringing together over 300 participants including EU officials, educators, researchers, NGOs, and project leaders.

The award highlighted SoilTribes as a leading initiative under the EU Mission Soil, acknowledged for its innovative approach to green education, its emphasis on civic engagement, and its ability to connect communities, educators, and stakeholders through collaborative learning. SoilTribes stood out for positioning soil literacy as a critical yet often overlooked component of climate resilience — treating soil not only as a scientific topic but as a cultural, social, and environmental priority.

Youthmakers Hub Senior Project Manager, Silvia Diazzi, represented both the organization and the SoilTribes project in a live panel at the European Commission titled “Green Education Projects Citizenship Education.” The discussion explored how education systems can foster active citizenship and enable individuals to take meaningful action on climate-related challenges. During the event,

Reflecting on the recognition, Silvia Diazzi noted:

“This award is a strong validation of the work we are doing through SoilTribes. It shows that when communities, educators, and institutions come together, we can reshape how people understand and engage with climate challenges — starting from the ground beneath our feet.”

Youthmakers Hub serves as the Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation partner in the SoilTribes consortium, a Horizon Europe initiative with a total budget of €5,999,859. In this role, the organization ensures that the project’s results, tools, and opportunities reach diverse audiences across Europe and beyond — transforming project outputs into accessible knowledge and real engagement with communities.
