Meet and Code

Meet and Code is implemented by Youthmakers Hub in 2020, 2021 and 2023. During the project’s training activities, participants can delve into various aspects of technology and programming.

 

Meet and Code 2020

Trainer: Christos Tsinavos

During this activity, the participants learn about programming through short, concise examples covering everything from getting up and running to object-oriented programming, data structures, various tips, and tricks. The seminar includes an overview of Java, object-oriented and basic programming, conditionals and Loops in Java Programming, and decision-making structures.

Trainer: Stefanos Nastos

During this activity, participants are introduced to web development. Particular emphasis is firstly given to HTML, as it is essential for creating something on the web, and secondly to CSS and JavaScript to provide better and more beautiful formatting to web pages and make it more interactive.

During this activity, participants are introduced to cybersecurity, the scale, and the types of cyber threats. Examples of everyday exposures to cybersecurity threats are provided, and tips are presented about protection in the cyber world.

Trainer: Christos Tsinavos

The participants learn how to create a website using the WordPress platform during this activity. WordPress is considered the world’s most popular content management system, as the free, open-source software is estimated to power more than 30 percent of the World Wide Web. WordPress for Beginners is just what its title suggests: essential but thorough WordPress lessons. The trainer proceeds on showing how to use standard basic templates and adding color, plug-ins, and media to create their website.

The participants learn to use Excel for basic coding during this activity. Participants are able to use tools, formulas, and variables and learn all the tools of Excel.

 

Meet and Code 2021

Trainer: Manolis Babatsikos

In the “3D tools 1.1” digital training seminar, participants are introduced to digital 3D depiction techniques using two main tools: After Effects and Premiere. It is an interactive session where the trainer showcases concrete examples of the tools’ use and engages participants in the creative process. The goal of this 2-day activity is to familiarize participants with the tools mentioned above and spark their interest in 3D Animation, learning about its areas of implementation and how to bring their ideas to life.

This digital training seminar is dedicated to SQL. The trainer deemes this programming valuable and worth learning, as it is the standard language for storing, manipulating, and retrieving data in a relational database.

  • The goal of this webinar is to familiarize the beneficiaries with SQL and includes:
  • Reference to all the Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) like MySQL, MS Access,
  • Oracle, Sybase, Informix, Postgres
  • Access to data in the relational database management systems.
  • Data description
  • Data definition in a database and manipulation of the data.
  • Creation of databases and tables
  • Creation of view, stored procedure, and functions in a database

In the “Game Design & VR” digital training seminar, beneficiaries are introduced to Game Design in the context of Virtual Reality depiction techniques using Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop, Unity & Unreal Game Engines. It is an interactive session where the trainer showcases concrete examples of the tools’ use and engages participants in the creative process. The goal of the activity is to familiarize participants with the tools mentioned and underline the prospects of a career in Game design and Virtual Reality.

Trainer: Manolis Makris

In the “2D Game Design” digital training seminar, the trainer and the participants co-created a platformer 2D game from scratch. The trainer teaches the basics about the main character’s movement and action algorithms, enemies’ algorithm, sprite animations, explanation and creation of different types of platforms, etc. Furthermore, the participants also learn about map creation, extraction for PC/ Mac, and how to add sound to the interaction between characters and objects, among others. The tools used are GDevelop5, Gimp, and Piskel.

The “2D & 3D 1.0” digital training seminar is dedicated to an introduction to 3D and 2D Animation through Autodesk 3DS MAX and Adobe Photoshop. The aim is for those interested to get to know the world of design, see how easily they can create and move an object or character, and examine the prospects of the above knowledge in the labor market.

This training includes:

  • Introduction to the Principles of Animation
  • From design to motion
  • Introduction to After Effects and 3DS max
  • Creating examples through the above programs
  • Introduction to Premiere and Photoshop for editing needs
  • Production of a small 2D and a 3D animation video
  • Labor market prospects

This seminar aims to teach participants how to create a website or customize an existing web template using HTML. It also aspires to function as a stimulus and a means of information about leading a career as a professional freelance web designer and, secondly, to understand the Web deeper. If one wants to optimize their website to boost its speed and performance, it is good to know HTML to yield the best results.
