nEU Citizenship’s 1st Climathon in Chania: Inspiring Urban Climate Solutions and Youth Engagement
Solutions addressing climate change were eagerly welcomed by citizens interested in participating in the inaugural Climathon event in Chania, which successfully unfolded on the 26th and 27th of November, 2022. This event, recognized as the 1st Climathon in Chania, was hosted at the Mikis Theodorakis Theatre and was co-organized by Ecogenia, Youthmakers Hub, and “Athena” Research and Innovation Center, which runs the EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece. Marilena Maragkou, Co-founder & Project Coordinator of Youthmakers Hub, shared that the idea behind the event was to encourage participants to collaboratively brainstorm innovative ideas to enhance the overall quality of life within an urban setting. Importantly, this event actively engaged young children in its proceedings, highlighting the pivotal role of nurturing the curiosity and involvement of both youth and children in climate and the environment. This initiative was conducted within the framework of the nEU Citizenship project, seamlessly aligning with its overarching objectives and endeavors.
