Finance Manager

Location: Athens, Greece (Hybrid – High Flexibility)
Contract Type: Part – Time | 1-Year Maternity Leave Cover (6-month trial with possible extension)
Start Date: beginning of September 2025
On-boarding and Training: July 2025

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team in a pivotal leadership role. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, organizational infrastructure, and internal systems that ensure the smooth running of YMH’s programs and day-to-day activities. You will work closely with the CEO to implement the strategic direction of the organization.

This position covers a 1-year maternity leave, with a 6-month trial period and the opportunity to extend the collaboration based on performance and organizational needs.

1. Financial Management

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across the organization and its projects
  • Oversee financial compliance with donor requirements (EC, AU, etc.)
  • Maintain clear and accurate financial records; supervise bookkeeping and transaction tracking
  • Coordinate and prepare for financial audits
  • Lead budget development for new project proposals
  • Serve as financial liaison with project partners and stakeholders, replying to all
  • Attend all project finance-related meetings
  • Communicate with our external accounting office
  • Implement all payments of the organization, including all HR costs (payrolls, consultants etc.)
  • Book tickets for travels for team members

2. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, grant requirements, and organizational policies
  • Identify and mitigate organizational risks proactively
  • Maintain business continuity and crisis response plans

3. Strategic and Programmatic Support

  • Support implementation of key programs by aligning operational systems and KPIs
  • Provide strategic input on program delivery, timelines, and cost-efficiency
  • Contribute to organizational sustainability and eco-efficiency initiatives
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in the fields of project management, management and business administration or finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational and management capabilities.
  • Dynamic, adaptable, flexible and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn and tackle new challenges, with occasional travel required.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in financial or operations management, preferably in a nonprofit or international project-based organization
  • Strong knowledge of EU funding rules, project budgeting, and donor compliance
  • Proficiency in financial tools and systems (e.g. Excel, accounting software)
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both in Greek and English
  • Comfortable working independently in a flexible, fast-paced, multicultural environment
  • Familiar with Greek accounting laws and policies 
  • A collaborative, hands-on team player who is mission-aligned and solution-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Fully Flexible Schedule: The role offers a flexible work schedule, allowing employees to balance their professional and personal commitments effectively.
